Inches ↔ pixels

Planning a new artwork file? Enter your print size to see how many pixels you need. You can also convert pixels back to inches—no upload needed.

PPI means pixels per inch. Start with 300 for detailed print planning. Leave height blank to convert just one measurement.

This calculates dimensions; it does not resize your file or add image detail. Pixel requirements round up to whole pixels. Inch results show up to four decimal places.

A little print-sizing help

What does my aspect ratio mean?

Aspect ratio simply means the shape of your picture. It helps us find print sizes that keep the whole image. If a frame is a different shape, you can trim the picture’s edges or add a border to keep everything visible.

Does 300 PPI guarantee a sharp print?

300 pixels per inch is a useful target for detailed prints. We divide your actual pixel dimensions by 300; a file’s saved DPI label does not change this calculation. Blur, compression and artificially enlarged pixels can still affect the result. If you’re unsure, ask the studio before ordering.

Can I print larger than the suggested size?

Possibly. A larger print has fewer pixels per inch, so the artwork, viewing distance and material matter. Check your desired size above, then contact us if you’d like help deciding. Enlarging a file does not restore missing detail.

What if my frame is an uncommon size?

Measure the opening that will show the artwork. Use the White Border Builder to keep the full image with border space, or the Custom Size Request tool to plan a print outside the standard options. For a mat, check the visible opening as well as the frame size.

Can I use a phone photo, PDF or TIFF?

JPG, PNG and WebP files work here, including supported phone photos. For PDF, TIFF or HEIC, export a full-resolution JPG or PNG first. A snapshot of a painting measures the whole photo, including the wall or frame; use a tightly cropped, straight-on image for a useful estimate.
