About The Project

A second life for archival paper from the Monochrome Canvas studio.

Sharing paper, sharing possibility

At Monochrome Canvas, we try to give back to the artists and creative community around the studio in practical, beautiful ways. This project is one of them: saved archival paper, offered as an invitation to make something new.

Why This Exists

A second life for studio paper

The paper used for these cards comes from saved studio remnants, offcuts, and test sheets from the printmaking process. The material is still beautiful and still worth using, so we are sharing it with the people who make the studio what it is.

Draw on it, paint on it, collage it, write on it, let your kid take it somewhere unexpected. The gallery is a way to see what happens when the same paper moves through many different hands.

Letterpress Printing

Printed with The 961 Collective

These cards were letterpress printed by The 961 Collective, a local print shop whose work brings another tactile layer to the project.

Working with Shadi is a reminder of why we value partnerships with nearby printmakers: he is open to creative projects with artists, experimental applications, and printing methods that help bring work into new territory.

After You Submit

From paper piece to digital file

We will review submissions before they are added to the public gallery. When possible, Monochrome Canvas can also help digitize submitted artwork so artists have a clean file they can use to recreate, print, or share the piece beyond the gallery.

Project Offer

Make it into a small printed piece

For artists who submit work to the gallery, we are planning a project-specific offer: 50% off your first set of ten 5x7 cards made from the artwork you contributed.

Quick FAQ

A few submission notes

Can I submit anonymously?

Can I include artist info?

Yes. You can share a display name, social handle, website text, location, or a short note if you want viewers to know more about you or your work.

Will every submission be published?

Can Monochrome Canvas help reproduce the artwork?
